When you're sending off something your kids once loved, it's fair to want to know how the price is worked out. We'd rather be straight with you than hide behind a black box. Here's exactly how we value LEGO.
Two simple methods, depending on what you've got
1. Loose, mixed bricks — by weight. We pay a set rate per kilo for ordinary mixed bricks. Weighing is the fairest way to price a jumble of bricks with no sets to identify — it doesn't penalise you for missing pieces or mixed colours, because it's all valued together.
2. Complete and sealed sets — individually. Whole and sealed sets are worth more than their weight in loose brick, so we value these one by one, based on what each set is genuinely worth on the second-hand market.
What we look at for sets
- Whether it's sealed, complete, or incomplete
- Whether it's a rare or retired set
- The minifigures included
- General condition — clean and undamaged is worth more
